Stacey Christakos

is Orama Atelier’s founder. Here’s her story.

Prior to selling art, I had the good fortune as an employee to purchase a multimillion-dollar lace company in New York. The manufacturing facility was in Mexico.

It was in a small gallery in Mexico that I first saw the art by the artist I work with today. I immediately fell in love. As soon as Victor, the artist, and I met, we knew we had to work together. Since then, we’ve collaborated on hundreds of pieces, using lace designs as inspiration for some of the collections…

About the Artist, Victor Martinez Rodriguez

At 17, I began working as an assistant in my brother’s glass studio. At 21, I traveled to the U.S. where I learned the art of applying Florentine gold.

I returned to Mexico and began making my own designs. I now create an array of pieces in all different sizes and forms. I even make tables. I’m inspired by the natural world around me and I love the creative process of making something unique each time.

Everyone should be able to enjoy the finer things.

Wanting a better life, I worked two jobs to pay for college. I graduated from New York University in three years with two degrees and honors, and began traveling the world for business. I was exposed to refined living and how business gets done.

Today, I donate scholarships in the U.S. and abroad. I love learning about wine and reading, especially biographies. I also love shopping for unique items for family and friends — and an occasional bauble for myself to pass on to someone I love.

The world is full of spaces that need a little help.
